How to Make Your First $500 Blogging Without All the Overwhelm Click To Tweet
Step 1: Master Your Money Mindset
You can do this!
Replace all the “I can’ts” with “I WILL.”
Seriously: your thoughts become your reality!
My goal is to help you overcome overwhelm and self-doubt, and fears you may be harboring around making money as a blogger. I used to feel the exact way. It seemed like a far-fetched dream.
UNTIL I told myself I was going to make it happen. Then I moved on to the next step.

Step 2: Unlock Your Money Making Potential
A lot of worries and fears I hear from my community about earning their first $500 is that they don’t even know HOW to monetize. Or what they have to offer the world to sell.
Well, I can give you a list of ideas but you’re still not going to know what will work best for you, right?
My advice is to focus your attention on reliable income streams: digital products and services. And ditch the rest.
Then ask yourself:
- What skills are you naturally good at?
- What are your passions?
- What tasks or activities always make you feel in flow when you’re doing them?
- What tasks or activities drain you?
My last tip is you’ll never know unless you try. Take the plunge and pick one. Dip your toes in the water.
If it doesn’t work out, consider it a lesson learned. Move onto something else! Nobody’s perfect. Especially newbie entrepreneurs! If launching your first offer doesn't go according to plan, consider it a lesson learned and move on! Nobody's perfect 🙂 Click To Tweet
Step 3: Attract the Right People to Your Offers
The next step is attracting the right people to your website and offers. And by right people, I mean your potential customers.
If you’re not ready to launch your first offer yet, no worries! You should still take strategic action by bringing your target audience in. The sooner you do this, the sooner you’ll feel ready to launch!
To do this you need a strong content strategy, aka write blog posts that are DIRECTLY RELATED to your money making thing (what you unlocked in step 2!)
For example: when I was transitioning from fashion blogger to blogging blogger I knew that I wanted to offer blog coaching services within the following year.
Even though I wasn’t ready to do it for an entire year, I still created content that would bring in the right kind of people who would be interested in my coaching services when I was ready to launch.
And I ended up landing my first client 6 months after rebranding. Way ahead of schedule!
With your blog content calendar created, you can get into the real traffic-driving strategies.
Pinterest and SEO is all you need to focus on, honestly.
And for the sake of ditching overwhelm, just focus on Pinterest. I have an entire strategy guide waiting for you here.
Step 4: Grow an Engaged and Warm Audience
Once you start bringing your potential customers in you want to focus on turning them from just readers into buyers.
There are two major ways you can do this. And for the sake of (again) ditching overwhelm, I’ll tell you which one you can focus on first.
The first avenue is social media.
Pick 1-2 platforms and show up CONSISTENTLY. You need to establish and grow your online presence and show up for your audience.
The second avenue is building your email list.
If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know I am all about the lists. List-building is definitely a strategy to implement in your growth plan, but if you’re feeling stuck and paralyzed by getting started, just focus on social media!
Overall, your goal should be to cultivate a community through your blog and brand. With a community of raving fans, you’ll be ready to launch your first offer to them.
Step 5: Create Your First Offer
Once you start growing your community you’re in a sweet spot and can start thinking about your first offer to earn your first $500.
Now before you let overwhelm take over and get into a tizzy, take a big breath.
You can do this girl!
I want you to stop thinking about the format, pricing, selling tactics and launching. We’re not at that part yet!
When you go to create your first offer, I want you to think about two things:
- A specific problem your audience is struggling with right now
- A specific solution you can create for them to solve that problem
It’s that simple! THEN once you have that figured out, you can move onto all that other stuff.
Step 6: Launch and Earn Your First $500!
Woo hoo, we made it to the last step! It’s time to launch and make your first $500.
This is the step you can start thinking about pricing your offer, launching it, and how to sell it.
Pricing can be tricky! My top tip is to do some research into what other bloggers are doing to get a ballpark range.
NEVER undercut the market and charge super low prices. That’s not cool for everybody else. That’s not cool for you. And that’s not cool for your audience!
Since this blog post is about helping you earn your first $500, a little math was bound to show up!
When you can break down the numbers and look at it in chunks, reaching your income goal won’t seem overwhelming anymore.
Once you choose a price for your offer that feels good, whip your calculator out and divide that number by 500.
If you want to sell a mini-course for $39, all you need to sell to make $500 is 13 courses!
See how easy that is?
The world “launch” can be pretty intimidating and I think it gets a bad rap because so many people complain about how hard and stressful it is.
But if you stop trying to launch like everyone else and choose a strategy that aligns with you and your audience, everything just flows!
I’ve done quite a few launches and the #1 thing that kept me positive and focused on the outcome was about how confident I was about my offer I was selling. Again, it all comes down to mindset!
With that said, here are a few launching strategies:
- Live webinar
- Challenge/Training Series
- Sales Emails
- Facebook lives/Instagram lives
Selling ain’t hard either…if you focus on doing it authentically.
Instead of pitching all the features of your offer, SELL THE RESULTS that your customers are going to get!
Show them how confident you are about what they’re going to achieve. And if it’s a specific solution to their specific problem (which you worked on in step 5!) it’ll be a no-brainer purchase for them.
